Weekend 1-dering the Island

We were excited to finally have Strider with us for the weekend.  Before Strider got off Friday we went to Ko Olina. It has 4 man made lagoons that are very kid friendly and well kept.

Grayson discovered here that he can use the boogie board as a kick board, which was great until he got scared because he kicked out too far!  No worries though, mom to the rescue!
That night we went to Waikiki for dinner at a nice Thai restaurant called Keos. Grayson loved that they had fire out front.
Every Friday night Waikiki does fireworks and so we parked ourselves on the beach to watch.
The next morning was our "wondering the island" day. Our first stop was North Shore's Shark's Cove.  It was gorgeous!
The boys loved the tide pools there. They saw fish and crabs and even found a friend to play with.
While the kids played, Strider and I took turns snorkeling. The water was a little rough, but in the calmer areas we saw lots of neat fish and even schools of fish. Strider even took Grayson out he was  amazed and kept wanting to see more and more fish.
Tolman was content to float, play and fill his buckets. :) We got some delicious mexican food nearby at Waimea Bay and had some incredible chocolate haupia pie at Ted's Bakery.  We passed other fun sights as we followed North Shore and made our way to the eastern side near La'ie. Here we saw the Hawaiian temple. It is so beautiful!
We drove out to La'ie point where an old tsunami had punched a hole in this rock.
We drove on and on after that until we finally stopped in Kailua to get the boys out! Grayson went boogie boarding with Strider, while Tolman and I played in the sand. It was really windy!
Grayson got buried by dad this time. He struggled for a while to get free!
We also stopped by the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet and got some Hawaiian gear and musical frogs for the boys.  It was a busy, but fun weekend!
